What Mac Pure is

Mac Pure replenishes the lipids the skin makes naturally. The active ingredient is macadamia oil, one of the highest natural sources of palmitoleic acid (omega-7) at 17-22%. Palmitoleic acid is a major component of human sebum, the oil the skin produces to keep its barrier intact.

When sebum production falls, through aging, diabetes, or radiation damage to the sebaceous glands, the skin barrier breaks down. Surface moisturisers (sorbolene, glycerin-based lotions) add water but do not replace the missing lipid. Mac Pure addresses the underlying deficiency by replenishing palmitoleic acid in a form structurally close to what the body makes itself.

Who Mac Pure is for

Clinical evidence

Mac Pure's lipid-replenishment approach is supported by four clinical studies, including an Australian aged-care randomised controlled trial published in Wound Practice & Research.

How Mac Pure compares

Sorbolene, QV, Cetaphil, MooGoo, and CeraVe are surface-hydration moisturisers: they pull water into the outer layer of the skin. Mac Pure works at the lipid layer: it replenishes the sebaceous oils the skin has stopped producing. Surface hydration helps skin that is producing oil normally. Lipid replenishment is what compromised skin actually needs.
